Listed in the Built in 1888, the Historic Calumet Inn is the Queen of the Prairie. the four story structure was built out of Sioux Quartzite quarried from nearby pipestone quarries. A $3 million renovation was undertaken in 1979 and the hotel was reopened in 1981 by Greg and Michael Hasara. Your first view of the interior, entering from the main north side of the hotel, is the lobby with its 2-story Sioux Quartzite wall and tin ceiling. Take the elevator to the fourth floor and Stroll throughout the 4 floor atrium with oak stair case and landings of plush red carpet which runs throughout the hotel. Several antique furnished rooms are usually open for display. The elegant dining room is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner 7 days a week. You may request a cove for a romantic dinner complete with entertainment on select evenings. Relax in Cally's Lounge (which was once the bank) featuring an 11 ft. by 20 ft. antique oak bar, and a casual comfortable setting. Browse the lobby and dining room featuring some of the finest antique furniture in the area as well as glassware, redwing pottery and other antiques. Also browse locally made crafts and Native American handcrafted Peace Pipes and collectibles. A visit to the Historic Calumet Inn will prove to be a memorable experience.
